Generate an offcuts plan from a finished roof takeoff and price the job on the material you'll actually buy - the honest alternative to a flat waste percentage for long-run roofing.
Offcuts
Offcuts turns a finished takeoff into a realistic material purchase plan. Measure the roof, generate the outline and the components that live inside it, then generate offcuts - QuoteCore+ works out how material cut at an angle can be reused across other sections of the roof instead of buying new sheets for them.
Why it matters
When long-run roofing material is cut at an angle, the leftover piece often isn't waste - it can cover another part of the roof. Offcuts finds those fits and prices the job on the material you'll actually buy:
- Lower material bills. Where an offcut covers another section, you don't purchase a new sheet for it.
- Honest numbers. Where an offcut fits nowhere, it's real waste - you still have to buy that material, and the quote should say so.
The goal is the least-waste purchase: the material actually needed to cover the roof, counted properly in both directions.
Offcuts vs a waste percentage
The traditional shortcut is roof area (with pitch applied) plus a flat waste percentage. It's simple, but it can't know that a long offcut from one section covers most of another. It overprices jobs where offcuts fit, and underprices jobs where they don't. Offcuts prices from the actual cutting plan instead, so the quote reflects the job.
See Waste & pitch for the area + percentage method.
Where to find it
Once your takeoff has a roof outline and components, generate the offcuts plan from the takeoff screen. The plan shows which sections reuse offcuts, what needs new material, and the true material cost that feeds into the quote.
