Smart Component Creator

The Smart Component Creator is a free tool that lets you pick a material type, enter your measurements, and get a complete material list with waste applied. It works the same way as the Smart Component tab inside the trade calculators, but as a standalone page.

• Units: Metric and imperial supported.

How it works

1. Pick a material type - e.g. roofing iron, tiles, underlay, fixings.
2. Enter your measurements - area, length, or quantity depending on the material.
3. Set waste percentage - the system applies waste to give you realistic quantities.
4. Review the material list - the system calculates quantities, pack sizes, and total costs (if you enter a unit price).
5. Download or print - get a PDF of the material list.

Saving to QuoteCore+

If you have a QuoteCore+ account:

• Smart Component drafts are saved server-side automatically.
• When you sign in to the app, your dashboard shows a "Restore draft" banner.
• Click Add to Component Library to convert the Smart Component spec into a full component in your QuoteCore+ library - waste routing, pack pricing, pitch type, and component slot requirements are mapped automatically.
