Anything can be a component

Products, materials, services, labour rates, delivery fees - if it has a price and a measurement, it can be a Smart Component.

Multiple measurement types

Area (m2, sq ft, roofing squares), linear length (m, ft), volume, per unit, or fixed cost. Each component uses the type that fits.

Import from supplier catalogs

Search supplier component libraries by area or product type. Import pricing and components directly into your account.

What are Smart Components™?

Smart Components™ are the core building blocks of a QuoteCore+ quote. A Smart Component stores three things: what it is (a product, material, or service), how it is measured (area, linear length, volume, per unit, or fixed cost), and how it is priced. When you add a Smart Component to a roof section in a quote, it looks at the section's dimensions and calculates its own quantity and price automatically.

There is no limit to what can be a component. A metal roofing sheet, a delivery fee, an hour of labour, a custom flashing - each one is a Smart Component that represents a piece of your business. Set it up once with its measurement type, pricing, and waste rules, and it calculates itself every time you quote.

Measurement types are flexible. Area-based components can use square metres, square feet, or roofing squares. Linear components can use metres or feet. You pick the unit that matches how you work, and the component handles the conversions.

Import from supplier catalogs

Don't have your own pricing yet? Smart Components™ can be imported from supplier catalogs and component libraries. Search by your area or by product type, find a supplier's library, and add it to your account. You get baseline pricing to start quoting with immediately.

Suppliers can publish their catalogs publicly, so contractors anywhere can find and use real pricing. This means you can quote jobs accurately even if you're new to a market or working with a new supplier. Adjust the imported prices to match your trade discount or markup, and you're ready to go.

How it works

1

Create or import a component

Create a component from scratch, import one from a supplier's catalog, or search for a supplier component library and add it to your account. Anything goes - products, materials, services, labour rates.

2

Set the measurement type and pricing

Choose how the component is measured: area (square metres, square feet, roofing squares), linear length, volume, per unit, or fixed cost. Set the item cost, labour rate, and waste allowance.

3

Drop it into a quote

When building a quote, add the component to a roof section. The system measures the section, applies the component's rules, and calculates the quantity and price automatically - including pitch adjustments and waste.

4

Quote repeats automatically

Every future quote that uses the same component gets the same calculation. Update the component's price once, and every new quote uses the new price. Old quotes keep their original pricing.

Who it's for

Any contractor who quotes the same types of jobs repeatedly. If you find yourself looking up the same material prices, applying the same waste factors, and doing the same calculations for every quote, Smart Components™ eliminate that repetition.

Also for contractors who don't have established pricing yet. Import from a supplier catalog and start quoting with real prices from day one.

What problem it solves

Repetitive calculations

Every roofer knows the formula for their materials. Smart Components™ store that formula so you never have to calculate it by hand again.

Inconsistent pricing

When prices change, update the component once. Every new quote uses the updated price. Old quotes keep their original pricing.

No baseline pricing

New contractors or contractors entering a new market can import supplier pricing and start quoting accurately from day one.

Frequently asked questions

What are Smart Components™ in QuoteCore+?

Smart Components™ are reusable quoting components that store their own measurements, waste allowances, and pricing rules. Anything in your business - a product, a material, a service, a labour rate - can be a component. You create it once, then drop it into any quote. The component automatically calculates its own quantities and price.

What measurement types do Smart Components™ support?

Smart Components™ support area-based measurements (square metres, square feet, roofing squares), linear measurements (metres, feet), volume, per-unit counts, and fixed-cost items. You choose the measurement type that fits the component, and it calculates accordingly.

Can I import components from my supplier's price list?

Yes. You can import components from supplier catalogs and price lists. You can also search for supplier component libraries by area or product type and add them to your account. This gives you a baseline pricing source even if you don't have your own prices yet.

Can I create my own Smart Components™?

Yes. You can create Smart Components™ for any material, assembly, service, or workflow you use regularly. There is no limit to what can be a component - if it has a price and a measurement, it can be a Smart Component.
